I just wrote some copy that will appear on Lion Brand Yarn’s website (or possibly Lion Brand Yarn Studio’s website) at some point in the near future.  It gives me an absolutely physical sensation of pleasure to realize that people whom I don’t know will be reading my words.

For completeness’ sake, the full line of “Make Merry” cards from this year in their final versions.

This is why I love the internet: My friend Kyle overheard part of an argument and posted it to Facebook. (”I SAID ‘Happy Holidays’ because I knew you’d get TICKED OFF if I said ‘HAPPY SATURNALIA’!”)  74 likes and 32 comments later, I was inspired to make this.

UPDATED TO ADD: I couldn’t resist; making this into holiday cards as well.

I’ve just finished my holiday card designs for 2011.  Is it wrong that I am so pleased with them that I want to show them to everyone, but am so afraid someone is going to steal my idea that I am only comfortable posting them here, where I’m pretty sure no one ever goes (because I don’t really publicize this site, on purpose)?  Something to talk to my therapist about, I suppose.  When I get one.

Tattoo design I did for my left-hand ring finger; I plan to get it inked on me in December.  There’s symbolism going on between the design and the placement, but I’m not going to go into that here.

There was a conversation last night that led to this.  I couldn’t help myself.

I have an overwhelming urge to transform the downstairs of my townhouse into a supercheery green-and-orange contemporary take on 1960s Mod.

I was going to start with Ikea shelving, making one wall into a gigantic storage cupboard. However, my workplace is surplussing some fantastic old shelving from the library stacks that is a fantastic shade of pumpkin orange. (Imagine these shelves in this color.)

Here’s the look I’m going for:

My sister-in-law decided to start selling jewelry on Etsy, so she hired me to make her a banner and avatar graphic.  It was a simple and fun little project.  Making things, small things that are easy to accomplish, makes me feel better. Stupid, but true.

So after all the awesomeness, the shit really hit the fan.  My husband and I decided to get divorced and, just two weeks later, my dad died.  So I’ve really not been in the mood to come back and talk about all those good things yet.

Eventually, I will.  But not soon.

So much has been going on, remind me later to tell you all about:

• The editing
• The Mayan aristocrat who pulled a thorn-encrusted rope through her tongue

I can’t make this shit up, folks.  This is my creative life.
